Full-Mouth/Bite ReconstructionWhat does Full Mouth Reconstruction involve?
It will take several dental visits to prepare and fit you new smile. The first visit is a consultation to outline the treatment plan and determine your smile style. Once your smile style has been chosen impressions are taken to make a wax-up to show you how your teeth will look. At the preparation appointment Dr. Singh will reshape your teeth in a very specific way in order to maximize the retention and esthetics of your crowns, bridges or veneers. To prepare your teeth, he will reduce your teeth and shape them in the necessary manner to produce an esthetically and functionally pleasing result. This preparation will allow room for the crowns, bridges or veneers. After your teeth are prepared, impressions are taken using putty-like material. This impression is then sent to our laboratory to be used for fabrication of your new smile. Once the impression stage is complete, the temporary teeth are made from the wax-up and cemented with temporary cement. The temporary teeth will be worn for at least three to four weeks and adjusted as necessary to accommodate function and esthetics. A try-in at the laboratory is required to confirm shape, size comfort and colour. At the second visit, your temporary teeth and any residual cement will be removed and permanent restorations will be tried in and evaluated for fit, shape and colour. If all of these factors are acceptable, they are bonded on and the bite is adjusted as necessary. How should I take care of my new teeth?
Your new restorations are designed to look, feel and function like your natural teeth. Therefore, it is important to brush, floss and see your dentist regularly. To prevent damaging or fracturing your new teeth, avoid chewing hard foods, ice or other hard objects. You also want to avoid grinding your teeth. With proper care you can expect your new smile to last many, many years.
